10    Treasure Coast

TYPE: Photobook
Self-published, perfect-bound, edition of 1

2023-2024

Treasure Coast is a photobook of color and black-and-white analog images inspired by my relationship to the familiar landscapes of my upbringing. Cities don't feel like home, and I'm left longing for someplace else. This distance drives my current feelings of uncertainty and displacement. Drawing on Rebecca Solnit's A Field Guide to Getting Lost and my ever-growing sailing community, I harness this powerful need to discover faraway destinations. Treasure Coast serves as a love letter to the places I have escaped from, and the journey of making my way back to them.

Every image in the book was shot on film, mostly across return trips to the Florida coast and my sailing community, where I could work directly with the storm systems I grew up watching form over the water. I used doorways and windows as a structural device throughout; the book opens on a threshold image, setting up a sense of partial access that carries through the sequence. Cyan became a deliberate color anchor in a handful of frames: a repeating stand-in for water and sky that reads as artificial, set against the black-and-white documentary images shot on location.

Case Study: Community Engagement Activation & Content Campaign

Designed and led an on-the-spot relay race when rain threatened to sink morale, then shot, edited, and published the day's content independently. Capitalized on success by reproducing the same event for a nationally awarded high school sailing team, producing professional stills and Reel content while running event schedule. Reached 6.7k combined views across 2 Reels, 375% more than Team Paradise's entire 1.3k-person following.

Problem 1: The Pivot
  • High winds killed the sailing plan with kids already on the dock
  • As Head Youth Program Coach, proposed a harbor-contained relay race between 2 boats — packable in under 10 minutes if conditions turned
  • Directed race, filmed, and posted it; performance was strong enough to make it a reusable format for future stakeholder program events.

Problem 2: The Scale-Up

  • Ransom Everglades Sailing Team later offered 20 student volunteers for an afternoon
  • Instead of mundane tasks like boat maintenance or equipment repairs, built the relay into a named event — The Ransom Relay Race
  • Gave participants and posted content a real role: visible mentors for Team Paradise's scholarship-pipeline sailor
Process
  • Ran three jobs solo, mid-event: event schedule, professional stills, and Reel production
  • 5 races in 75 minutes under a small craft advisory
  • Real conditions, not staged for content

Overall Results
  • 6.7k views
  • 10.07s avg watch time
  • The Pivot Reel alone: 105 likes, 8 shares
  • Turned campaign into Team Paradise's highest-performing Instagram content in 2 months
  • Reels were reposted and shared by RS Sailing and US Sailing Center Miami

Case Study: Designing the Outward Face

    Track 1: The Mark

    • Planned a burgee flag design to implement for growing advanced sailing team marketing; used a method from sailors dating back to the 18th century
    • Inherited a color palette, star, and sail shape from a prior designer; no brief, no direction
    • Reinterpreted what existed rather than starting over: 3 iterations
    • Executive Director signed off; delivered to a flag/banner printer as a print-ready file

    Track 2: The Deck
    • Team Paradise invited to the 2026 Going for Gold Rally: realtors and community leaders from Palm Beach to Key West, hosted by Exp Realty
    • Built the full pitch deck solo in Canva, ~5 hours, 2 days' notice
    • Presented live to a room with zero prior context on the org

    Outcome
    • The mark is now the org's official burgee; printed, flown on program coach boats, and used in social media marketing
    • The deck delivered a first impression to a new donor community

6    Archival Restoration & Corporate Media

    CLIENT: Dykes Lumber Co.

    2025

    • Up to 2 locations per day, including travel, self-managed scheduling and logistics

    Restoration
      • Sourced vintage film images and promotional posters from the NYC Municipal Archives for corporate HQ display
      • Paired traditional Photoshop retouching with generative AI colorization to bring archival photos into color
      • Prepped final files for large-format canvas printing

5    Editorial Production & Zine Publication

      TYPE: Risograph Zine
      Staple-bound, edition of 5

      2023

      The Brief
      • Shot Elle McDougald's thesis collection for her own portfolio and client use.

      Studio & Technical Plan
      • Photographed McDougald mid-construction (cutting, pinning, assembling), not posed finished garments.
      • Set up lighting to give a blank canvas and focus in on detail and real-time construction.
      • Organized and selected RAW files for book layout in Adobe InDesign; prepared final files for risograph specifications.

      The Object
      • 5 letter-sized, staple-bound zines printed on risograph — riso variance made every copy unique.
      • Chose one spot color over two or three, so the print framed the garments instead of competing with them.
      • Built the whole run from test prints and rejects, echoing the collection's own repurposing ethics.
